Email Marketing
With a strong focus on results-driven design, I create email marketing campaigns that stand out in crowded inboxes. My approach combines eye-catching visuals with strategic elements like list segmentation, personalized content, and A/B testing to optimize performance. I’ve helped brands achieve higher open rates and conversions by designing responsive email templates that speak directly to their audience’s needs. Using data-driven techniques like subject line testing, CTA optimization, and audience segmentation, I continually refine campaigns to improve click-through rates and user engagement. Key accomplishments include boosting campaign performance with segmented lists and targeted landing pages, which led to increased engagement and measurable business growth for over an 18-month period.
Donor Development Email Campaigns
Objective
The goal of this email campaign was to increase donor engagement and encourage contributions to the organization’s fundraising initiatives. The email needed to be visually compelling while providing a clear and persuasive call to action.
My Role
I was responsible for the full email design, including layout, typography, and selecting the appropriate visual elements to align with the organization's branding. I used Adobe Photoshop and XD to design the email, ensuring that it was responsive and user-friendly.
Design Process
Research: I reviewed previous email campaigns and analyzed their deliverability, open rates, click-through rates, and conversions.
Concept Development: I focused on creating a simple, visually appealing design. The headline was bold and designed to grab attention, while the body copy was kept concise and readable. The call-to-action button stood out in a contrasting color to encourage clicks.
Challenges: A key challenge was ensuring the email looked great on both desktop and mobile. I used responsive design techniques to ensure the layout was adjusted smoothly on different screen sizes.
Outcome
The final email design included a visually impactful header image, clean typography, and a prominent call-to-action button that led recipients to the donation page. The email was well-received by the client and resulted in increased donor engagement.
Reflection
This project underscored the critical nature of clarity and simplicity in email design. I gained valuable insights into structuring content to direct the reader's attention towards key elements, such as the call-to-action button. Additionally, I honed the ability to craft designs that are not only functional but also align with the client's established style guide.
E-commerce Email Campaign
Objective
This e-commerce email’s strategy was to promote a new sale and encourage customers to purchase. The email needed to be visually appealing, showcase key products and drive traffic to the online store.
My Role
I was responsible for designing the layout, selecting product imagery, and creating call-to-action buttons that would lead customers to specific product pages. I worked closely with the marketing team to ensure the design aligned with the brand’s visual identity, messaging, and client requests.
Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop and XD for the design.
Design Process
Research: I reviewed the brand’s previous email campaigns to understand what worked well and identified opportunities for improvement. I also researched current trends and practices for e-commerce emails, focusing on visual hierarchy and product presentation.
Concept Development: I developed a product-focused design that prominently featured the key products. I incorporated the product graphics colors and typography to separate the products from others previously available. I made the layout responsive to ensure a seamless experience on both desktop and mobile devices.
Challenges: One challenge was not readily having images for the products since they were still being produced. I solved this by using my skills in Adobe Photoshop to create realistic mockups. Clickable/coded call-to-action buttons for each product were included, leading directly to the product pages.
Outcome
The final email design featured a clean, minimalistic layout with large product images, concise product descriptions, and “Shop Now” buttons that stood out. Each section was easy to navigate, and the email was optimized for mobile viewing. The sale event saw a significant increase in website traffic and product sales following the email campaign.
Reflection
This project has enabled me to improve my approach to e-commerce email design, especially in designing product images that are more unique than the typical box images. I focused on creating a visual hierarchy to highlight key products and to provide an intuitive shopping experience that increases conversions.
Podcast Promo Email Campaign
Objective
Design an informative podcast email to promote the latest episode, engage the audience, and drive traffic to the podcast’s platform. The email needed to highlight the episode’s topic, and guest speaker, and provide easy access to listen.
My Role
I was responsible for designing the email layout, creating episode graphics, and ensuring the call-to-action buttons led subscribers directly to the episode on various streaming platforms.
Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop and XD for design, and Clarety (client proprietary EMS) for email creation.
Design Process
Research: I analyzed email campaigns from other successful podcasts to identify what grabs attention in the crowded inbox. I focused on creating a design that was visually engaging, yet informative and easy to navigate.
Concept Development: Focusing on the episode’s key elements—title, guest speaker, and a summary. I used a round call-out graphic on the header image to draw attention immediately to important details. The email was divided into clear sections, making it easy for the reader to skim through and find the episode link
Challenges: I had to make sure that the email looked good on different email platforms and devices and met the client's EMS requirements. To do this, I used inline HTML formatting and made sure that the content was still easy to read on mobile devices. I also created buttons that were easy to tap and led to the podcast.
Outcome
The final email design featured call-to-action buttons, "Listen Now," strategically placed to guide users to platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts' websites. The campaign resulted in increased listener engagement and higher episode downloads, making it the layout for future podcast emails to come.
Reflection
This project emphasized the importance of clarity and testing layouts for email design. I learned how to effectively promote multimedia content and drive audience engagement through simple, yet impactful, design elements. It also helped me improve my skills in creating email designs that perform well on various devices and platforms.
